Correct
insulation forms an integral part of any properly
designed and well installed underfloor heating
system.
Uninsulated floors act as a heat sink absorbing most of the heat energy created
by the underfloor heating.
If
you choose not to install underfloor heating without
first insulating
the floor, your fuel bills will be at least double
that of the same system with insulation.
Thermal performance
Until
the late 1990’s, the thermal resistance of the uninsulated
floor and the ground was often sufficient
to meet Building Regulation requirements.
Recent
changes have required a significant improvement
in the thermal
performance of all building elements, particularly
floors.
